Domino: digital cold foiling

Print manufacturer Domino has developed a system for cold foiling using digital printing. Domino´s K600i single colour inkjet printer is housed in an AB Graphic machine. The K600i first prints an adhesive and creates an image which is laid over with conventional metallic foil after which it is UV cured and delaminated.
According to Domino it is possible to add holographic images to the foil. The combination of holographic and digital will make counterfeiting even more difficult. Apart from the security aspect this digital coldfoiling technology can also be used to enhance printed matter.
