Multilayered beer
Martens Brewery in Bocholt (Belgium) is one of the biggest breweries in Belgium. They package their Champions beer in PET bottles. The images are printed directly on to the PET bottles. The company is now experimenting with augmented reality. Characters from popular televisions series are printed on to the bottles. When the consumer scans the image a video is shown explaining more about the series.
NMP systems, a KHS subsidiary, delivers this technique. They use Agfa Graphics UV ink which is suitable for food packaging. The images are printed in a 1080 dpi resolutions (white and four colours).
Beer in PET bottles is increasingly popular because PET is recyclable and the material is much lighter which is good for transportation.
