Printing two colours at the same time with nanopixels

Scientists at the University of Glasgow (Scotland) have found a way to print two colours in one single pixel. And very detailed as well, up to 100,000 dots per inch. This offers new possibilities for security printing (anti-counterfeit) for for example money or expensive whiskey, but also for data storage. This new print technology uses very small (nano) plasma colour filters. These small colour filters reflect different colours depending on the angle the light falls. By adjusting the structure the colour can be influenced. Thanks so this structural colour technology two very detailed full colour images can be printed at the same time on the same surface.
When a normal print in a magazine requires a resolution of 300 dpi, a printed page with this structural colour technology requires a resolution of up to 100,000 dpi.
