A thousand 3D printers for Plastic Madonna
A thousand 3D printers will be used to print a 12 meter high statue of a mother breastfeeding her child. The material for this statue, the Plastic Madonna, will be recycled plastic (PET) litter. The Plastic Madonna is an initiative of Peter Smith who together with his Stichting Klean (Klean foundation) wants to tackle the worldwide problem of plastic litter and plastic soup in the oceans. The intention is for the Madonna to be exhibited on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro during the 2016 Olympics. For more information visit plasticmadonna.com and stichtingklean.
