We should have seen it coming. If there is anything that resembles AR glasses it is ski goggles. And now we have the AR ski goggles with which you can film, navigate and even game. Safe no, fun yes.Skiing through a gate which doesn´t actually exist or following a track that others cannot see will be possible with these goggles. The RideOn ski goggles will make your ski holiday a complete virtual reality experience.At the moment the RideOn is available for pre-order. They are a step nearer to the future. The goggles has UV400 lenses to protect from the sun, not really special. What is special are:

The goggles are different from products such as Oakly Airwave, GooglePal or Zeal is that they are really augmented reality. The screen is full scope and not just a little display in the corner.
Our visual world is becoming more colourful. Inkjet with greater colour spectrum and retina screens with deep blacks play a role. Scientists do not only work on these solutions, but also on the essence of colour. They have, as can be read on fastcodesign, discovered four new colours. A deeper black and series of fluorescent colours will change our perception of colour and change the benchmark for print. Fashion and the car industry will go first, but once the consumer is used to these new colours the packaging industry will follow.

Wetenschappers werken niet alleen aan deze oplossingen, maar ook aan de essentie van kleur. Zo hebben ze, zoals fastcodesign meldt, vier nieuwe kleuren ontdekt. Een dieper zwart en een fluoriserende serie kleuren zullen onze perceptie van kleur de komende jaren veranderen en de lat voor drukwerk hoger leggen. Dat zal als eerste gebeuren in de mode en de autoindustrie, maar de verpakkingsmarkt zal daar zeker op in gaan spelen als de consument gewend is aan die nieuwe kleuren.

What we previously called open house is now called an Innovation Day, but the intent is the same, show new products. At its headquarters in St. Gallen, Switzerland, from 20 to 22 September, Gallus will show the pre-series model of the new modular flexo 440mm wide label press. The press with its short make ready times and speeds of up to 200 meter/minute will leave all other label printers far behind. The new narrow web press not only beats other digital solutions in speed, but also in cost per print. We are not sure if modular means that flexo can be combined with digital units such as used in the Gallus/Heidelberg Labelfire, but we will hear that in September. Open huizen zijn nu Innovation Days maar worden nog steeds gebruikt om relaties nieuwe producten te tonen. Zo laat Gallus op 20 tot 22 september in St. Gallen, Zwitserland, het concept zien van een modulaire flexo 440 mm brede etikettenpers die met zijn korte insteltijden en snelheden tot 200 meter/minuut andere digitale etikettenprinters het nakijken geeft. De nieuwe narrow-web pers verslaat digitale oplossingen niet alleen in snelheid, maar ook in kosten per afdruk. Of modulair ook betekent dat flexo gecombineerd kan worden met digitale units zoals gebruikt in de Gallus/Heidelberg Labelfire zullen we in september weten. Proof of the fact that Africa has become a real growth market and that digital print will play a very important role in this is the enormous interest in FESPA Africa and Sign Africa. From 7 to 9 September all halls of the Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg will be filled with the latest developments in sign and display. Getty Images will be the official photographer for the Olympics and Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro. The Getty team is ready to do so and expect to make more than 1.5 million photos with their team of 120 people.
Photographers naturally want to get their photos to the head office as soon as possible so that they can be used for publication. To do this they will use a superfast 100 kilometer long glass fiber network between the 32 Olympic locations. The photos will be on the Getty Olympics website in less than 120 seconds.
Of course an event like the Olympics will be captured in 360º, just because we can. So everyone will be able to enjoy the Olympics from their own home. The Olympics will be held in Rio from 5 to 21 August.
