The beautiful colours of life under water require specialized reproduction. Special paper, coating, and six colour offset are needed, and, for extra information via a mini-website, QR codes. Coating manufacturer ACTEGA Terra, KBA Sheet-fed Solutions, Sappi and Rudolf Reproflex joined forces to produce a unique calendar for their clients. The calendar was printed in the KBA training centre, on the six colour Rapids 105 PRO with twin coaters and a ColdFoil Infigo SF module. With QR code developed by ACTEGA Terra and KBA (www.calendar-insights.com/en/) the lucky 3,500 owners can get even more information about this unique graphic product, its production process and the images. The calendar is proof of the unique possibilities sheet offset offers creative minds.
Shaun A Hobson, senior business director Graphics Solutions Europe, said that this year’s stand has been designed to inspire as well as inform: “We have some really interesting products here, and we wanted to make sure that the graphics professionals who visit us can not only see our innovations in action, but also get a sense of potential applications. These materials are designed to offer more creative freedom and better application results.”
The Avery Dennison FESPA Digital stand will give visitors everything needed to spark new ideas and open up new business opportunities. Key themes are speed of application, new choices in colours and textures, service and training.
Avery Dennison is also a proud sponsor of the ‘World Wrap Masters’ competition, where you’ll see regional and national FESPA Wrap Masters – who’ve won their title in approved competitions – compete for the title of World Wrap Master 2016 in a two-day final on March 10-11.
Duncan MacOwan, Head of Events and New Media for FESPA, said that the competition is eagerly anticipated: “World Wrap Masters is a part of what makes FESPA such an exciting place to be, and Avery Dennison is a natural choice of sponsor – we have seen some truly outstanding wraps created using their products.”
Oliver Guenther, marketing director Graphics Solutions Europe, said that the FESPA Digital presence reflects a commitment to applicators and converters as key business partners: “Constant innovation is a crucial part of what Avery Dennison offers, and we think it is vital not only to make our customers aware of new options, but also to give them the full range of backup and support needed to create outstanding applications.”
The Avery Dennison stand is at E30 in Hall 1, on March 8 – 11, 2016 at the Rai Exhibition Centre in Amsterdam.
Textile printing is proving to be one of the fastest growing sectors in the digital wide format print industry, and with technology a key driver for the changes, demand for education is high on the agenda for print service providers. At FESPA Textile 2016 (8-11 March), FESPA is supporting printers with a daily programme of unmissable seminars from industry professionals, and alongside these is also hosting a one-day Digital Textile Conference, with the objective of providing a comprehensive learning platform for anyone looking to develop in this area.
Duncan MacOwan, FESPA’s Head of Events and New Media comments: “Our one-day Digital Textile Conference (DTC) taking place on Tuesday 8 March provides printers with information and first-hand experience from some of the leading industry experts in this sector, and for any printer seriously interested in expanding their textile offering, will provide valuable insight to help their businesses diversify.”
The conference runs from 10.45 to 18.00 on Tuesday 8 March and is covering topics such as Insights into the growth and creative development of digital textile markets by Ron Gilboa of Infotrends; Growing your business with fabric printing by Daniel Arzt of Sun Ski Sport s.r.o; Smart textiles by David Schmelzeisen, Academic, Institut für Textiltechnik der RWTH Aachen; Digital print in fast fashion by Mike Horsten, General Manager Marketing EMEA, Mimaki Europe B.V. and a keynote Q&A on The evolution of digital textile print for fashion with Bruno Basso & Christopher Brooke, Basso & Brooke, who are pioneering the digital print process in fashion, making history with their ground breaking 100% digitally printed collection. The day will also include panel discussions and key networking opportunities during the inclusive lunch and drinks reception.
“We have aimed to get a complete spectrum of speakers involved in the DTC who can discuss different aspects of the textile industry. The objective is to provide useful insight for those printers who may be already producing printed textile or looking to branch out into a slightly different area,” continues Duncan.
As well as the one day conference, the free textile sessions included within the Digital Seminars area on the show floor throughout the four days include topics such as: 3D printed clothing, Direct to garment printing: should we or shouldn’t we?, and Screen printing and direct to garment. Visitors are welcome to drop in and listen to sessions during the course of their visit to the exhibition.
“With textile highlighted as a key growth area in our recent FESPA Print Census, we are committed to ensuring that we provide as much useful information as possible to our community so that we can help printers diversify and thrive in this sector,” comments Roz McGuinness, FESPA Divisional Director. “Our educational sessions, whether they be in the Digital Seminars area or at the Digital Textile Conference, all have this same objective in mind and we are confident that delegates and visitors will leave the sessions feeling like they have learnt useful information to take their business forward.”

FESPA’s 2016 Southern European Print Congress, delivered by four of its member associations, will take place from 19-20 April 2016, in Milan, Italy, following the success of the 2015 event held in Barcelona, Spain.
The 2016 Congress will be organised by Apigraf (Portugal), FESPA España Asociación, FESPA France Association, and the host country, FESPA Italia Associazione, in collaboration with FESPA as a corporate organisation. The addition of Apigraf will further extend the geographical reach of the Congress, attracting a new audience from Portugal to take part in the two day event.
Delegates attending the Congress will hear from leading regional experts on topics tailored to the needs of local specialty printers including best practice advice in interior, textile and industrial printing. Following the success of the initiative at last year’s event, attendees will be able to participate in a ‘speedy meeting’, where they will have one-to-one meetings with peers to discuss business and share knowledge. There will also be discussions on interior decoration, Out Of Home advertising and 3D printing.
The event is open to members of each association, and the wider print community in these countries. The cost of attending is €70 for members of an association, and €140 for non-members. Vendors who are members of an association can attend at a cost of €500. Just under 100 people attended the 2015 Congress, which was titled ‘The Wow Effect of Printing’, and was praised highly by delegates.
The Southern European Congress is funded through FESPA’s Profit for Purpose initiative, which reinvests FESPA’s profits from its global exhibitions into resources to support local print service providers, enabling them to share knowledge, learn about technology developments and explore solutions to their common business issues.
Sean Holt, FESPA General Secretary, comments: “The 2015 Southern European Print Congress was a great success, demonstrating how vital it is for industry stakeholders to have a touchpoint to network and share knowledge with other graphics professionals in their region. FESPA is really proud to support these association-led events, which give back to the community and benefit regional professionals. The Congress presents a valuable opportunity for local printers to come together to enhance their knowledge and develop their business and hear from leaders in the industry.”
Corrado Bizzini, President, FESPA Italia, adds: “We are delighted to host the 2016 Southern European Print Congress in Milan, bringing together the very best minds and businesses within the print industry from across the Mediterranean. Working with the other Southern European associations means that we will attract printers from all four countries who will share common industry insights, trends and enjoy a unique networking opportunity.”
The Southern European Print Congress is part of a larger series of regional events from FESPA in 2015 and 2016, including a Brazil roadshow and an Africa forum.

Meer informatie over deze complete serie bijzondere materialen lees je in onderstaand persbericht.
BRETT MARTIN TO EXHIBIT WIDE RANGE OF SUBSTRATES AT FESPA DIGITAL
Brett Martin will be treating FESPA Digital (Amsterdam RAI, 8th – 11th) as a platform for exhibiting its latest range of flat sheet products to the print and display sector. Visitors to stand R143 will be able to view first-hand a wide variety of the company’s substrates, including the Foam PVC Range (Foamalux White, Foamalux Colour, Foamalux Ultra and Foamalux Xtra) and Transparent Sheet Range (Marlon FS Polycarbonate, Marpet-g FS PETg, Marpet-a FS aPET and Marcryl Acrylic), which is one of the broadest available in Europe.
“As a well-established and reputable manufacturer, Brett Martin understands the challenges that the sign & display sector faces,” comments Duncan Smith, Sales Director at Brett Martin. “FESPA represents an opportunity to raise awareness of our offering by showcasing an array of plastic printing substrates to an international audience that includes digital printers, screen printers, sign makers and plastic distributors for the print and display industries.”
One of the leading brands of foam PVC sheet, the Foamalux range will be prominent on the Brett Martin stand. Light in weight, versatile and highly durable, Foamalux has earned a reputation for quality performance for a wide variety of applications in the sign, display and print world.
The range comprises four different options: Foamalux White, a bright white direct to print PVC substrate available in thicknesses from 1‐24mm and UV stable for digital printing; Foamalux Colour, a vibrant palette of 15 colours that includes the innovative Neon Pink, Neon Green, Raspberry and Black Sparkle options; Foamalux Ultra, a durable rigid foam PVC sheet with a high gloss premium finish available in white and 6 colours, providing a high end appeal; and Foamalux Xtra, manufactured from recycled foam PVC, comprising a recycled black core sandwiched between surfaces of white virgin PVC to a achieve a dramatic finish, with new options including 19mm Black and 19mm White-Black-White.
Smith is also keen to highlight the presence of the company’s latest Transparent Sheets at the show. “We consider Brett Martin as the one-stop shop for transparent sheet products. With such a wide offering available across Europe, it makes sense to illustrate the features and benefits of these products at an event like FESPA,” he comments.
The first of these, Marlon FS Polycarbonate, is a thermoplastic sheet with remarkable durability. Ranging in thickness from 0.75‐15mm and available in sizes up to 2050mm, the sheet provides 200 times more impact resistance than glass at only half the weight. Marlon FS Polycarbonate’s flexible design and high optical clarity make it ideal for displays, poster covers and illuminated signage.
Marpet‐a FS aPET is a new introductory range of high optical grade amorphous polyester sheets from Brett Martin. Combining high transparency and impact strength with chemical resistance and fire performance, the sheet is ideal for flat and cold bending applications. The sheet comes in thicknesses of 2 – 4mm and can be utilised in a variety of sectors ranging from retail (price tags, POP displays, shop fittings) to signage (poster covers, light boxes).
Another substrate that is perfect for sign, display and store fixture applications is Marpet‐g FS PETg, an amorphous copolyester that does not crystallize, therefore making it suitable for fabrication, heating and vacuum forming, without the chance of whitening or cracking. The substrate’s versatility (it can be easily cut, drilled, digitally printed or screen‐printed) allows for the creation of a variety of shapes and is available in thicknesses from 0.75 to 12mm.
Finally, Marcyl FS Acrylic is a high gloss acrylic sheet featuring a glass-like aesthetic, making it the ideal option for applications where a high end finish is required to add further value. Available in thicknesses of 2-10mm, the sheet is best deployed for displays, leaflet holders, POS equipment, as well as assorted fixtures and light boxes.
“With a long heritage in plastics substrate manufacturing, our objective for FESPA Digital is to show visitors to what extent our solutions can benefit the print and display community,” concludes Duncan Smith. “We are very much looking forward to showcasing our offering, as well as engaging with our existing and prospective customers to discuss the latest trends and opportunities in this exciting industry.”
After the Digital First hype another hype is coming to advertising: interactive.
Creative interactive campaigns are a weapon in the battle the consumer´s attention and money. Not only interactive posters, but also printed material with coupon codes to receive discounts via the internet, are said to become more popular this year.
This interactive hype is supported by the fact that manufacturers want tangible results. Not just views, clicks and followers, but real results like increased turnover. Interactive ensures real consumer interest which will lead to the consumer sharing their details. To make this all possible creativity is needed just like technology. Trendwatcher Bart ter Steege mentioned this already. If these are combined with a paper and digital mix, success is only a matter of time.
