Content is King ook in de kunst en perfecte inkjet prints kunnen dat verzilveren. Dat zou je op kunnen maken uit de YouTube video van een bijzonder experiment van LifeHunters. Die plaatsten in het Moderne Kunstmuseum Arnhem een exemplaar uit de IKEA Art collectie en vroegen aan ‘experts’ wat de waarde van dit IKE Andrews ´schilderij´ zou zijn. In het tweede Drupa Trends Report staan positieve cijfers voor onze industrie. Maar liefst 48% van de bedrijven die aan het onderzoek deelnamen denkt dat de economische situatie van hun bedrijf de komende jaren verbetert. Slechts 7% is daar pessimistisch over. Voor wat betreft de omzet (39% verwacht groei) en de marge (16% verwacht een stijging) is het minder rooskleurig maar toch nog positief. Een andere opvallend cijfer is de verwachte groei in digital print, 25% verwacht dat die zal stijgen tegen slechts 7% vorig jaar. No less than 48% of companies who participated in this research thought that their economic situation will improve in the coming years. Only 7% has a pessimistic view of this. Turnover (39% is expecting growth) and margins (16% expect an increase) are less rosy, but still positive. Heidelberg heeft zijn digitale eieren niet in één mandje. Het sloot een overeenkomst met Landa voor Nanographic persen, werkt samen met Ricoh om printers in zijn Prinect Workflow op te nemen, kan met zijn Linoprint C serie industriële printers aanbieden en ontwikkelt met Gallus en Fujifilm een digitale labelprinter. Daarbij komt dan nu de aankondiging dat Heidelberg met Fujifilm een B1 formaat vellenpers gaat bouwen. Dit alles onder de kreet Time for Digital. Of de marktleider in offsetpersen op tijd is met zijn digitale move en welke persen we op de DRUPA 2016 zullen zien is afwachten.
Heidelberg does not put all its digital eggs in one basket. It signed an agreement with Landa for nanographic presses, works together with Ricoh to add their printers to the Prinect Workflow, offers industrial printers with the Linoprint C series and is developing a digital label printer together with Gallus and Fujifilm. Now they are announcing a cooperation with Fujifilm to manufacture a B1 sized inkjet sheetfed press. All under the name Time for Digital. Whether the market leader in offset presses is in time to catch up with this digital move remains to be seen and we will have to wait for the DRUPA 2016 to see which presses they will show.

Screen zal tijdens de Fespa 2015 in Keulen de high-speed, 150 m2/uur Truepress Jet W3200HS tonen met een rol-tot-rol optie. De W3200UV is een zes kleuren plus hoog opaque wit printer die materiaal tot een maximale breedte van 3,2 meter verwerkt. De met automatische cleaning en nozzle mapping uitgeruste groot formaat printer is ook beschikbaar in een standaardversie die 85 m2/uur verwerkt. Tijdens de Fespa, 18 t/m 22 mei, zal de Truepress JetW3200 een aantal uitdagende opdrachten printen waaronder 5 en 7 laags backlit materialen en lenticular opdrachten. The Save the Memory Project is a project sponsored by Ricoh working to return damaged photos to the victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami of 2011. With the help of Ricoh products and software more than 400,000 photos which were found in the area by volunteers are being digitalised, restored and catalogued. More than 500 volunteers have already given back 100,000 photos to their rightful owners. Read more about this special project via this link.

Save the Memory Project is een door Ricoh gesponsord project dat de slachtoffers van de 2011 tsunami en aardbevingen in Japan hun bijna verloren gegane foto’s terug wil geven. Met behulp van Ricoh apparatuur en software worden de meer dan 400.000 door vrijwilligers in het gebied gevonden foto’s gedigitaliseerd, gerestaureerd en gecatalogiseerd. Meer dan 500 vrijwilligers hebben zo al bijna 100.000 foto’s aan hun eigenaren terug kunnen geven. Lees meer over dit bijzondere project via deze link.
Nu er wereldwijd minder drukwerk wordt vervaardigd is oud papier schaars aan het worden. De vraag ernaar overstijgt het aanbod. Dat betekende dat papierfabrikanten nu meer bomen moeten kappen om papier te maken. Volgens een bericht van PPI is de hoeveelheid ingezameld bedrukt papier in Finland sinds 2008 elk jaar met 10% gedaald. Volgens Kyösti Pöyry, CEO van papierfabrikant Paperinkeräys Oy is een ander probleem de kwaliteit van het ingezamelde oudpapier, die is ook minder geworden. This means that paper manufacturers need to cut trees to produce paper. According to a press release by PPI the amount of recycled printed paper in Finland has decreased by 10% every year since 2008. During the show SCREEN will print a variety of challenging graphics so visitors can see the printer’s ability to produce smooth tints, vivid colours and sharp 4pt text.
