During the eagerly awaited presentation of the Apple Watch Apple managed to surprise. It introduced a reasonably affordable, super thin Macbook which will also be available in a gold colour. The new Macbook is not only the thinnest Macbook ever, but is filled with technology which will make laptops attractive to users for whom a smartphone or tablet isn´t enough. Apart from the new keyboard which experts say is pleasing to the touch and more durable, the new Macbook is the breakthrough for the new USB C standard, also known as USB 3.1. USB C does away with the big frame weakening connectors. Charging, connecting to a screen and to peripherals is all possible with this one connector. The price we have to pay for this is an adapter to connect to all the ´old´ devices like screens, harddisk and printers. You also need an adapter if you want to connect your Macbook to an electrical outlet and use peripherals. These adapters will cost between 20 and 100 Euro.

Digital Industry Network, D.I.N. is a new buzzword for a combination of business to business marketing techniques connected to each other because of the use of the internet.
According to techmarketing expert Andy McCartney the combination of social media activities, web portals and newsletters replace the old B2B sales model of marketing and sales visits. He bases his theory on the fact that good content focusing on a target market ties the web portal´s visitor to the brand. Visitors are found via social media such as Twitter and LinkedIn, which are also used to start an interaction with a (potential) client. Blokboek.com shows that this is indeed a winning marketing strategy. McCartney´s full article can be read via this link.

On 29 and 30 April the ICC ExCel in London will be the stage for the Adobe EMEA Digital Marketing Conference. For just about 1000 Euros marketing specialists will receive information about trends in the digital world. That´s quite a lot, 549 Euro per training, travel and accommodation in Swinging London hotel not yet included.
You do get up to date information about things such as email marketing, digital advertising, personalisation and optimisation. But what is even more important than the Summit itself is the fact that you can see why the big money goes to digital and not to print. That is not just about what´s fashionable amongst marketing professionals and clients, but more about measurability and scalability of digital marketing. Adobe has great tools for this which will be in the spotlight during the Summit. The Adobe tools for print productions will be in their shadow.
Fortunately for the graphics industry more and more digital marketing professionals understand that paper still has a lot to offer, especially in a mix with digital.
