PERSBERICHT

Tecnau introduces a new high-speed
book-block production system

Ivrea, Italy: to meet customers’ demands for even more variable and productive solutions, Tecnau announces the availability of the new High-Speed TC7800 Book-Block Production System, mainly targeted as a roll-input channel for the well-known Libra 800 book finishing solution. The system increases web speed and reduces book block assembly cycle time, resulting in a throughput improvement for book binding by up to 30%.

Configured with a high-speed unwinder, slit-merge and dual web cutter, the system can produce books-of-one variable in height, width and thickness at speeds up to 180 m/min. The system is based on the well-established Cutter TC7800 series and includes a new tight web merging module, which ensures stable paper handling at high speeds for a broad paper weight range, from lightweight to heavy stocks.

The new High-Speed TC7800 Book-Block Production System supports web widths up to 25.2-inch (640mm), enabling the widest array of applications for book-of-one productions, including A4 landscape size, to maximize the size range of the Libra 800 VB Variable Binder and Libra 800 VT Variable Three-Knife Trimmer.

The system can also produce book-blocks to feed third party binders, with fully automated non-stop book-by-book delivery, or be used as a standalone production line for short runs.

As for all new Tecnau lines, the new High-Speed TC7800 Book-Block Production System offers a wide level of integration and customization, with a centralized workflow control system and remote diagnostics for quick service support.

Tecnau innovative solutions for the publishing segment include book-block and finished book production, both from roll and cut sheet, targeted to short runs and book-of-one. Tecnau leads the way towards lean book manufacturing, from order entry to delivery, helping to dramatically reduce inventory, minimize paper waste and simplify internal and external logistics.

3D printing ten times faster

06 dec 2017
Categorie:

Researchers at the American MIT have developed a new printhead which will make 3D printing ten times faster. The new printhead is based on a screw mechanism that feeds polymer material through a nozzle at high force; and a laser, built into the printhead, that rapidly heats and melts the material, enabling it to flow faster through the nozzle. This mechanism makes it possible to print complex objects in just minutes.
The team demonstrated the production of a big number of replicas within 10 minutes. Researchers see a number of applications in the fast-growing 3D market.
MIT is now working on a larger model which could speedily print tools, prototypes or even furniture.

PERSBERICHT

Koenig & Bauer and ESKO strengthen partnership

 Workflow solutions for packaging print
  • Cooperation between packaging specialists
  • New presentation possibilities in Radebeul near Dresden
  • Extended colour gamut spares use of spot colours
Koenig & Bauer and ESKO, both global leaders in the field of packaging printing, recently agreed to further strengthen their partnership. To this end, colour management and workflow solutions from Esko were installed at the Koenig & Bauer demo centre in Radebeul and are available with immediate effect for live presentations to interested customers.
As a solution provider to the packaging industry, Koenig & Bauer sees ESKO as a strong partner when it comes to process-integrated workflow solutions. Accordingly, it is pleased to be able to show users the Equinox colour management technology, which enables printing with an extended colour gamut, with the necessary RIP architecture being provided by ESKO’s Imaging Engine. One of the benefits of an extended colour gamut is, that printers are spared the constant wash-ups which accompany the use of spot colours. Job changeover processes are accelerated and extra production time is gained.
This is an especially interesting option for packaging printers. A growing number of brand owners are today accepting the use of an extended colour gamut as an alternative to company- or product-specific spot colours. It is thus all the more important for both companies to present practically integrated pre-press and print solutions which meet the highest quality standards. After all, a wider gamut alone is not sufficient; for the overall process, the absolute stability of all relevant parameters in print is also imperative. With its advanced measuring and control systems, Koenig & Bauer here offers ideal prerequisites for a stable process even over long runs and for repeat jobs.
Packaging printers who come to the Koenig & Bauer customer centre can in future not only become acquainted with the latest print and finishing technologies, but also obtain a more comprehensive overview of the integrated process and the range of workflow solutions for packaging production. ESKO will likewise be using the new presentation opportunities in Radebeul to inform its own customer base. The first joint activities of the two companies are already planned within the framework of the Print & Postpress Innovation Days which are to be held at KBA-Sheetfed in Radebeul from 29th November to 1st December.
