Facebook pays for livestreaming

ls2Live sharing of videos with your smart phone became big about a year ago. Facebook has been following this trend and has been paying celebrities and media companies in the US for their livestreams. The Wall Street Journal recently uncovered the exact numbers for these deals. According to the newspaper Facebook is paying more than 50MUS$ to 140 celebrities and media companies. Buzzfeed and The New York Times lead by receiving 3MU$ per year to publish their livestreams on Facebook. They get paid because they cannot advertise on the livestreams. The reason for Facebook to pay for this is, of course, more and longer use of Facebook.
