Famous print street Chicago loses last print shop
What Harlem is for the Dutch graphic industry, Chicago used to be for the North American print world. In the halcyon days that is, because the last print shop in the famous Printer Row, the street with numerous print shops, will cease to exist. Since 1880 Clark Street in Chicago had a flourishing print industry with famous printers such as RR Donnelley. Lately there was only one printer left, Palmer Printing, an offset printers founded in 1937 by German immigrant Everett Palmer. But this print shop will also close its doors which marks the end of an era in printer city Chicago.
