Good first half year for Bertelsmann
In a world where big European print concerns had a financially tough year, or even went bankrupt – think UK based Polestar – German Bertelsmann is doing really well. Bertelsmann closed the first half year with a turnover of €8 billion and an EBITDA of €1.1 billion. Remarkably the gravure division has done well. Bertelsmann includes publisher Gruner + Jahr. The publisher saw a decrease in print advertising and an increase in digital. Bertelsmann Printing Group, which includes all global offset and gravure print shops, did relatively well. Mohn Media (offset) and Prinovise (gravure) which belong to the group saw an increase in turnover compared to the first half year of 2015.
