The Guardian will switch to tabloid
Following in the footsteps of many other newspapers famous newspapers the Guardian and Observer will change to the smaller tabloid format in 2018. Publisher Guardian Media Group (GMG) is economising after a loss of nearly 38 million pounds in the past year. The number of copies has halved to 154,000 over the past 10 years.
Trinity Mirror, who also print the Daily Mirror and Sunday Mirror will print the papers. The change will mean the end for the print shops in Manchester and Stratford where they had three Manroland Colorman rotation presses, which they bought in 2005 for 80 million pounds.
Trinity is of course happy with the extra work. They have five printers in the UK after it had to close down shops in Cardiff and Newcastle last year.
