Limex: “paper” made from limestone
Times Bridge Management (TBM) together with Japanese printer Toppan Printing developed an alternative for paper and plastic: Limex. The source materials for Limex are limestone and polyethylene (20%). It is supposed to be environmentally friendly because limestone is amply available (in comparison to wood) and because the production process does not require large amounts of water and pulp used in the traditional production of paper. Another advantage is that it is lighter, cheaper and of higher quality. Since it is also water resistant it can be used for outdoor solutions as well. According to the inventors it is easier to recycle than paper.
