Market for 3D printers doubles every year

According to market researcher Gartner 245,000 3D printers will be sold worldwide this year. Next year probably half a million and Gartner predicts that the sales will double every year until 2019 with an expected 5,6 million in that same year. The growing demand is mainly due to the improved quality of 3D print technology. According to Gartner the 3D printer market is growing from a niche market to a global one for companies and consumers. Up to now the consumer market hasn´t been that big. Most ´cheaper´ 3D printers (under $2,500) are not for the end user, but for schools for example.
