New technology for security printing
Canadian company Opalux has developed new, patented security print technology: OpalPrint Polycarbonate. The technology, a combination of photonic crystals and nano-scale technology, creates colour shifting image that overlays the image of a document, for example a passport photo. By using ElastInk colour can change in response to finger pressure. Opalux Photonic ink is RFID activated.
British banknote printer De La Rue has signed a partnership with Opalux to use the technology for security printing. Opalux also supplies the British Metropolitan Police and US Homeland Security.
