Online news consumers in the US increases at the expense of TV, newspapers remain stable
The divide between Americans use the internet or television to get theirs news is slowly getting narrower. This according to Pew Research Center based on new research. Per August 43% of Americans say they use the internet to get their news. 7% less than Americans who prefer television.
The last time the group researched this, the number of tv watchers was much bigger than online news consumers. At the time in 2016 57% sought their news via the tv and 38% did so online.
The number of people getting their news from radio or newspapers has remained the same. A quarter of Americans depend on the radio for the news and about 18% do so from a newspaper.
Remarkable is that increase in online news consumption comes from a growing group of people of 50 years or older.
