Paper made from panda poo
The graphic design industry has long known that paper can be made from any material with fibres. Long ago (2013) Arthur Lubbers wrote an article for PrintBuyer about paper made from elephant poo. Packaging specialist Remmert Dekker was experimenting with it at the time.
Paper manufacturer De Middelste Molen in Loenen, the Netherlands, has recently gained notoriety for the use of panda poo in the paper manufacturing process. The paper is said to be suitable for lamp shades. Two Chinese pandas Xing Ya and Wu Wen who live in Rhenen Zoo, are appointed supplier for the source materials. They eat many kilos of bamboo daily. To make the paper wood pulp is (currently) added, but the idea is to make paper out of 100% panda poo eventually.
