Premature end to Timsons´ digital press
The infamous English press builder Timsons hasn´t been able to bring his digital press to market. The new digital division of the company, established 6 months ago, has been placed into voluntary liquidation. No orders were received for the T press which was announced during the 2012 Drupa which meant that the company had to stop their digital activities.
Last September the company, founded in 1896, announced that they were going to stop the production of traditional rotation offset presses. The company was split into a division for the building of digital presses and an engineering division to service the 300 rotation offset presses still being used worldwide. Timson Engineering has not been affected by the bankruptcy. The last conventional press was sold mid 2014. The presses are used for newspaper and book production and are very suitable for the printing of bible paper which is why Dutch bible printer Jongbloed in Heerenveen has been using Timsons´ rotation offset press for years.
