Ricoh expands his Clickable Paper

BB150723 ClickablepaperRicoh Europe has developed new authoring capabilities for the OEM’s Clickable Paper that will enable companies to deliver a more responsive, client-centric service. Ricoh is also launching customization software during the second half of 2015 that will allow clients to embed Clickable Paper into their own branded apps. Clickable Paper is based on Ricoh Visual Search, visual recognition technology developed by Ricoh. Existing printed matter can be made interactive without having to manipulate the source documents. Interactive windows link to more information such as videos, social media channels or a webshop. The links can also connect to direct contact such as phone or email.

“We know that Clickable Paper gives direct access to a variety of online information”, says Jean Paul Schriek, Senior Product Marketeer Ricoh Nederland. A successful Dutch example is the integration of Clickable Paper with NRC Media. “Up til now Ricoh took care of making the pages clickable. With the newest version print and media companies can do this with a simple online application, which shortens turnaround time. Links can be managed more effectively and efficiently so that content can be updated when a situation changes without having to update the actual document.

The next step in the development of Clickable Paper will be for organisations to integrate the application into their own apps. The has already been tested in the market and will become available in The Netherlands in teh second half of 2015. ““The app adds a level of usability and manageability to help companies to offer their clients greater choice”  according to Schriek. “It’s another step towards identifying the impact of a campaign and overall engagement. These new developments enable a greater level of product flexibility that will drive market interest towards creating print that links to online resources using innovative and flexible technology – and will in turn generate sales. The fact that so much functionality can be added quickly and easily will encourage more end users to specify Ricoh’s Clickable Paper to improve content accessibility and develop more productive client relationships.”
