Stories on demand printer
What do people do these days if they have a little time during travelling? They check their phones, read emails, Tweet or text. French publisher Short Edition offers an alternative. In Grenoble 9 printers were installed to print short stories on demand. The highly visible black and orange printers are a meter high and offer a choice of stories of 1, 3 or 5 minutes long. After making a choice a random story of that length is printed. There are currently 700 stories available, all fiction. Short Edition offers this service free of charge, thanks to municipal support.
The company does not want to disclose how the printer really works. Short Edition has received several inquiries from an international audience. It is very well possible that the machines will provide good short stories at airports or other public spaces in the future.
